Marine Rescue Hervey Bay provides a full rescue service to mariners who experience vessel breakdowns or require assistance due to medical or other emergencies.
We encourage all mariners to log on with us before commencing their voyage.
Should you unfortunately experience a breakdown or require other assistance then it is vital that you contact MR Hervey Bay as soon as possible while ensuring that you and your passengers remain calm, and safe. Make sure you are safely anchored if possible.
We will ask you for your GPS coordinates and/or your location.
Our Radio Operators are experienced and will assess the situation then advise you of the steps to be taken while activating the appropriate response team to attend to you.
For vessels that have broken down, we will offer a tow to the nearest appropriate safe harbour. If circumstances allow then we will attempt to tow you to your departure point however this can’t be guaranteed.
If you have a battery issue out on the water, we can jumpstart your engine for you to make your own way back to harbour. Unless it is extenuating circumstances, we do not carry fuel out to vessels and we do NOT salvage vessels that have run aground and cannot be refloated at high tide.
You should also be aware that our priority is at all times the safety of lives at sea, including our own.
Recovery of property is secondary.
You may contact us on VHF channel 73, 22, 67, 27MHz channel 91 or by phone on 07 4128 9666. We also monitor VHF channel 16 for marine emergencies.
